Help!!!! I want to join

Joining a running club can be one of the most daunting things around!! You've decided to lace up the shoes and after a couple of weeks you realise that this running thing is not much fun on your own ...... so what do you do?

Well - the good news is that we've all been there at one stage so we know EXACTLY what its like to join a club and come running for the first time.

We at BCC are here to help you through that so that you can join this wonderful sport that WE all love - so what do you do?

  1. Give 1 of the guys on the committee a call (see the "Contact us" tab on the home page)
  2. They will arrange for you to meet somebody at one of the morning schools who will introduce you and ensure you know how everything "runs"
  3. Keep coming in the mornings and you'll never look back!!

We train 6 days a week in the mornings (you are allowed Monday off!!) and there are 2 speedwork sessions - 1 on a Wednesday evening (Time Trial) and the other on a Thursday evening (Track work). Depending on your goals, you decide what you want to do.

In the mornings, there are 3 schools that run. Below is an indication of the average pace of each school. This is merely a guideline and will vary depending on the day.

  • A School : The quicker runners. Training takes place generally at sub 5min per km
  • B School : Intermediate runners. Training pace varies from 5min/km to 5:45 min/km
  • C School : Less quicker runners. Training pace varies from 5:45/km to 6:30 min/km
  • D School : Our nursery
